Brackets are used in dentistry to correct irregular tooth alignment. They are divided by clinical treatment method into self-ligating, edgewise, mesh-base edgewise, straight-wire and mesh-base straight-wire brackets, and by slot size into 0.018" and 0.022". A bracket consists of base, slot, tie wings and base plate, made of austenitic stainless steel 0Cr18Ni9 with Rockwell hardness 19-25 HRC; the surface must be smooth and flat without cracks, burrs or depressions, and does not discolor under the action of saliva. Shelf life and warranty are both 36 months.
