超弹性镍钛牙弓丝是普通镍钛丝经过特殊处理后呈现出较强弹性，依靠卸载外加应力，为牙齿矫正提供持久稳定的矫形力，达到排齐牙列，整平牙弓的效果。 弹性较好，与托槽间隙摩擦力较小，有利于牙齿移动，所以常用于矫正初期，排齐牙列。 方形弓丝与托槽间隙相互作用，有利于控制牙齿的移动方向，所以在矫治中期和后期多使用方形弓丝。
