Composition Cobalt, chromium, molybdenum and silicon with minor noble-metal additions; nickel-free, vacuum-melted and refined. Indications Hard casting alloy for Type 4 and 5 removable partial denture frameworks. Key features 1. Vacuum melting and refining give excellent biocompatibility. 2. High strength, hardness and elastic modulus produce rigid frameworks and clasps with strong spring-back — known as "high-elastic steel". 3. Appropriate ductility prevents clasps from breaking during adjustment. 4. Stable, reliable casting behaviour for high-frequency or torch melting. 5. Good chemistry for electrolytic polishing.
